Pregnant Women

I have heard BC Role-players state that they will not kill a pregnant woman, instead they will wait until the child is born before completing their mission. This strikes me as being a rather odd, noble and honourable decision to make on the part of  the Killer.

Let me pose you a few questions or scenarios.

1. You are hired to kill a Free Woman. The Client informs you that the woman is pregnant. Do you accept?

2. You are hired to kill a Free Woman. She happens to be pregnant, however it is early term and not obvious that the woman is with child. Will you stop and ask if she is pregnant before you strike?

3. You are hired to kill a Free Woman. The client informs you that she is 3 months pregnant but the assassination is time critical, her death could end or prevent a war. Do you accept?

You can see from just these three scenarios the complexities that can surround such a mark as that of a pregnant woman. I am sure we could all come up with other complex scenarios.

And this is my point. Assassins do not deal in complexity or allow such sensitive problems to confuse or deter them. They cannot even consider them in the first place because to do so, would prevent them from being effective killers and plausible Assassins. The moment a Killer shows mercy or concern, he is no longer a killer. He has become a man with morals and honourable principles.

There is no honour in killing a man, woman or child. There is honour in how one kills.

You have to remember only one thing, the gold that you will earn. Attempting to avoid the death of an innocent is not a reason to wait. Assassins may know the true value of life but that does not mean they will allow such a perception to shake their resolve to disrupted their purpose for being.

An Assassin who probably would kill a pregnant woman.

OOC Considerations

The pregnant woman has most probably spent many hours in RP to reach the point she is at. She has allowed time for a man to court her, together they have developed the relationship through friendship to love. The pair Free Companion and before you can say "Bun in the oven" she falls pregnant. Off then to the stores to buy a strange looking object for a baby.

I am sure that any Rper who has spent considerable hours in developing their virtual life story will not wish to have it ended by a Black Caste Assassin.

I am of the opinion that if it’s your time to go there is nothing one can do about it, except to play dead for the typical 48 hours then poof back and continue from where you and your unborn child were....paused.

Those who like to reflect real life and treat dead as...permanently dead in SL should, in my view, roll with it.

Just like in real life...

"Today a pregnant woman was knocked down by a bus. Both the Mother and unborn child were killed."

I am sure she did not want herself and her baby to die but fate decided otherwise.

"Today a pregnant woman was assassinated. Doctors were unable to save the Mother and her unborn child."

If you mirror certain aspects of your real life as part of your SL Gor RP, i.e. dead is dead, then you have to accept that you might be killed at any moment, accidently or on purpose. True Role-play is impossible to control or direct. To create an OOC drama because you are unhappy with the outcome is simply unacceptable.
